Slade reminds me of Glade, as in air fresheners. And while Shy could be a cute nickname (I like Sly, and Shy isn't any more negative than that, lol), I really don't think it works as a full name.
I'd love to meet a Violet who was called Shy, just for jokes. Ideally, she'd have a big mouth, too. ;)

Actually, I'm too young for Rainbow Brite.
I was born in 1987, and if I pretended to be a Rainbow Brite fan, I'd be a total, lying poseur. :)
The phrase "shy violet" is an old one, though if I recall correctly, they named a character by that in the show, right? I was playing just on the old phrase, but the added 80s dimension makes the idea of Violet "Shy" even more appealing.
