Milo or Miles?
I used to hate Milo, thinking it couldn't work in today's world. Now, I'm not so sure. I think it has a great sound to it. Miles, however, sounds a little more complete and grown up (which is important to me. Babies don't stay babies) Anyway, which sounds better Miles or Milo? The other thing is that Milo seems too childish and Miles sounds too dignified. Anyone else see that problem?Siri

I love both!I agree that Milo might not age well though, so I'd go with Miles.

I could never use Milo, as it's the name of a choc malt drink powder here in Australia! It's not a bad sound I guess but I can't get past the association. I like Miles - I have a cousin of some variety with the name, a second cousin I think. He's probably about 10 years old now. Anyway . . . Miles is great, and in the US you could get away with Milo. How about Milo as a nn for Miles?

I agree Miles sounds old, but Milo reminds me of a character in the disney Atlantis film!

Miles is to dignified (but only a little) and Milo is to babyish
I really don't like both names (at all), especially Milo
So, in answer to your question, I like Miles better

I like Milo very much - its in the top 5 for boys and one of the few names DH and I agree would be a good one. I think Milo has a lot more character than Miles. It's a very old Greek name, so something about the age and history of it keep it from seeming too childish to me. I could see a teenager or adult with the name, and in fact, I think there's a Milo on the WB who's in late teens or early 20s, and the only other Milo I've known was a dear family friend of DH's who was elderly when I met him, and it was a quite dignified name on him.

I like Miles...When I was in college there was a baby named Myles. He was so cute... we called him "All Smiles Myles". :)

I understand what you're saying, butI much prefer Milo over Miles. I can see Milo as a baby, as a cute cute cute little boy, as a teen (kind of quirky, but cute), as an adult, and as an old man. Miles just seems kind of stuffy to me.

I think so too.

Ditto.

I don't like either but if I had to choose between the two I'd choose Miles. Milo reminds me of the dog in that one movie.

The other thing is that Milo seems too childish and Miles sounds too dignified. Anyone else see that problem?I agree. Milo sounds unpredictable while Miles sounds like an old fuddy-duddy. I like Milo slightly more but only very, very slightly. Both names are nms.

I much prefer Miles over Milo. Milo does seem to childish, but Miles I see as a great name for an adult or child. I also like Myles (it's not a creative spelling, but actually the orinional).

I think Miles is the perfect balance between unique and dignified. I think it's great. I prefer Miles to Milo although I think Milo would be ok too.
