Originally these were both masculine forms, though it seems that the way things have developed most people in the USA at least now think of Sydney as feminine and Sidney as masculine. But I've certainly are examples of girls with the name spelled Sidney. Though I don't really care for the name for a girl, I do think it would be better to spell it Sydney for a daughter if one is choosing it.
