Sydney for a girl
What do you think of this name? Which spelling, do you prefer Sidney or Sydney? I prefer Sidney but isn't that the masculine form?

Nobody else can make me feel

I love Sidney, and Sydney only on a boy though

In Miranda's Despotic World, both Sydney and Sidney would be masculine names only. However, in Real Life, I'll very grudgingly accept Sydney as the female form and Sidney as the male form--even though that makes Sydney an early "Y makes male names fymynyn, duh!" name imo.

I personally dislike Sidney/ Sydney for a girl but love it for a boy spelt Sidney.
Sydney seems to be the accepted feminine form of what has sadly in my opinion become a unisex name which is fast sliding into girl only in some areas.

Sydney (with either spelling) is not my style for a girl, though the spelling that I mentioned would be the one that I would pick for a girl if I had to. I prefer this name for a boy (spelled Sidney).

I have always hated the way this name sounds. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me and it has a sinister association to me, I think mostly thanks to the evil neighbor kid, Sid on Toy Story. I imagine Hannibel Lector saying "Hello Sidney." Creepy. The positive association that I have, and the only way that I can see the appeal of this name, is because of Sydney, Australia.Britney Tamber

I have a niece named Sydney so that influences my liking the name for a girl. She was named for a great uncle named Sidney.

Bleh. I find it boring. I like Sidney for a boy, but Sydney/Sidney for a girl is just one big *yawn* to me.

I like Sidney for sure...However, I like I like it more on a boy. Sidney really isnt a girls name to me although I know it is unisex.~~Kris~~

Originally these were both masculine forms, though it seems that the way things have developed most people in the USA at least now think of Sydney as feminine and Sidney as masculine. But I've certainly are examples of girls with the name spelled Sidney. Though I don't really care for the name for a girl, I do think it would be better to spell it Sydney for a daughter if one is choosing it.
