I don't know-maybe. It is my son's middle name-a Scottish family name that goes down generations in my husband's family. I like it-but don't think I would have used it as a first name in the States. My husband is Canadian and said he did get called "Dunkin' Donuts" sometimes when people learned his middle name.

I love Duncan. It was my ggm's maiden name. In addition, my dh's surname is Scottish so the whole name would work very well. Unfortunately, my dh doesn't care for Duncan that much. I'll admit the Duncan Donuts/Duncan Hines associations bother me a little as well, however, all it takes is for parents to continue to use the name and others won't focus on those things anymore, imo.

I love the name Duncan, ever since I heard it on my favorite show, Veronica Mars. I don't make that association at all, but if you're weary of it then it's probably not a good idea.

Definite probability. I would call someone Duncan Donuts even if they weren't chubby. PS. Duncan wasn't the best character in Macbeth either.

Im Australia and we dont have Duncan Donuts, so it doesnt have that connotation here. Even if we did I would still use it. Just like there is a drink called Milo here but people still use the name.

I didn't think of Duncan Donuts at all, but it's probable someone will. I wouldn't disregard this name just because of that, though.

It does make me think of that, but do they even have Dunkin Donuts anymore? I haven't seen one in ages. Maybe it wouldn't be an issue for kids born these days.

I think he'd be likely to be called Duncan Donuts even if he wasn't chubby. It's that kind of name. If not Donuts, then Hines.
