I've heard that in some accents, it sounds like "piss." [edited]

I've never actually heard Pierce pronunced in such a way--in my accent, we enunciate R's pretty firmly--but that's enough of a sticking point that I'd pass on it.

ETA: Is Piers supposed to sound just like Pierce, as Bear indicated?
Wow--I've always pronunced it like the word, as in, "There are three piers on this side of the lake." Bear is right that if you're planning on Piers-sounds-like-Pierce, you're going to have pronunciation problems.
I never knew the "right" pronunciation. Huh. Learn new things every day. :D
"That was the thing about aliens that no one ever really expected. They're a bit dull."
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
