Olivia / Alivia
It was suggested awhile back that the spelling Alivia would be more interesting than Olivia... How do you feel about Alivia? Does it look made up? What if she was a sibling to Anna? Would it look like she was mispelled to match her sis?

I was thinking about this alternative spelling myself just the other day, with the nn Ally. Also thought about 'Elivia' nn Ellie.
While I don't like either name, Olivia looks much better than Alivia. Yes, it looks made up. If she was a siblings to Anna, Olivia would look much better anyway.
Loving Theodore and Chloe!
Sorry, but it looks illiterate to me. :-/
I know a very sweet lady whose kids are Alivia, Caroline, and Christian (b), but I still HATE the spelling. :(

How do you feel about Alivia? sorry but it's not pretty. it looks like Uh-LIVE-VIA, not OH-LIV-EE-Uh.

I know an Alivia. I don't like it. I love Olivia though. I like Anna too, but I wouldn't spell it with an Olivia 'A' with a sibling named Anna.

Alivia looks like it should be pronounced like uh-LEEV-ee-ah, and makes me think of that headache medicine, Aleeve! I prefer Olivia. The popularity thing is dissapointing, though!
ETA - With a sibling Anna it might look like a matching thing. I think olivia and Anna would be lovely, though! Anna is one of my favorites! Simple, short, and sweet!

Yes it would look misspelled to match. I don't care much for it, it looks nice, but it looks made-up.
It reminds me of a typo I've made with Alexander recently, I accidently typed:
Elexander, doesn't look that bad, does it? :)
just for fun to look at:
Elexender, Alaxandar

I do think Alivia looks contrived. Though I don't say OH-livia, I don't really say Uh-livia...it's kind of somewhere between, where the O seems more fitting.
I guess like some of the names I really like...people would assume that it were spelled the other way and drive the poor girl crazy all her life.

I actually posted this question months ago, and then decided that I liked Olivia much better. Alivia is too "kreative" for me! Olivia and Anna would be a nice, but popular, sibset. I love both names!
I am fighting with myself about Olivia. It seems that being known as "Olivia N." would kill the beauty of the name. Plus, more than likely it will be 3 or 4 years before I have a baby and the name will be TOTALLY ruined by then, if it's not already. Geez, I am sinking into depression as I type... :P

Yeah, the Olivia N thing is why I scratched most of the popular names off of my list. I'm sad that some of my favorite names are climbing! I love the sound of Aodhan / Aidan, but it's becoming soo popular that I would never use it any more. Please don't get depressed! :) If you like "O" names, how about Ophelia?
Then, my daughter would be depressed! Naming my daughter after a woman who goes crazy and commits suicide? Not a good idea! I have this indelible impression of Helena Bonham Carter. She's a good Ophelia for sure.

I don't usually look to namesakes, I look to whether or not I like the sound :)
If Ophelia is a no-go, then how about Octavia? Oceane? Oceana? Olympe? Oona? Opal?
