The name sounds harsh to me. I wouldn't use it myself.

Astrid is all right. To me, it just sounds very Scandinavian (does that even make sense?). It's snappy, but it's not something I'd consider using. It seems like it should be a puncuation mark of some sort because it reminds me of the word "asterisk".

I like Astrid. It's a nice name that hasn't suffered from over-use. I don't think I'd personally use it as the "ass" sound turns me off. Tatum is okay. It doesn't do much for me either way. I prefer Astrid.

This was my Dad's ex-girlfriend before he met my Mum, so it would seem awkward for me to name my future daughter Astrid. On top of this, my friend bagsed the name before I did, so it's completely out of the question. Still, I love it. It's very down-to-earth sounding.Astrid Elodia

I love Astrid. I don't think I could use it, due to the "ass" sound at the beginning, but I really like it. It strikes the ideal balance of strength and femininity as well as being familiar but not overdone.I can't stand Tatum, sorry.

LOVE Astrid. One of my FAVES but my husband wouldn't go for it when we were pregnant with Anastasia. Now we're having a boy so it's off again. *BUT* I did ask him if we should have a girls name picked out just in case it ends up being a girl and he said "no I can't deal with looking at girls names too, we'll just have to deal with coming up with a name on the fly. SO maybe it could be part of my backup name in case it's a girl, I can't not have a name picked out and then just pick on out on the "fly". My choice was Ophelia Josephine, this was our #2 name when Anastasia was born. But maybe I could change it to Ophelia Astrid. I like that. ;)

Astrid is one of the most beautiful names ever, and it's one of my very faves, making it into my top 10. I love it because of it's meaning, and because it's such a true Scandinavian name.I love the name Tatum too.

Ha, I guess it's just the Tat* part of it, which makes me think of Taters which then makes me think of Potatoes. Strangely the name Tate doesn't remind me of potatoes when I hear it, haha.
