Ian could be a nickname for Julian. Other than that, I can't think of any. I like Jules on a boy, though Julie is 100% girl.

Jude. "Hey Jude" was written for John Lennon's song whose name was Julian. I think Julius is close enough to where Jude could work too.

You could call him Liam, I know it's not quite the same, but my husband's name is Killian (similiar sounding to Julian) and we call him Liam a lot of the time. Just a suggestion.

Julius was my uncle's name. We called him Jules, Lius, and Lee, however the technical spelling of that last one should probably be Li.
