No, it would seem patronizing and silly.
I would stick with Marian and Mariette, personally--but that's mostly because I don't like the O in Marionette at all. Marianette would win me over, ha, but people would assume you didn't know how to spell it (though clearly it could be Maria + Annette ;).
Besides that, who wants to be a puppet on a string? Beautiful as marionettes are, I don't know that it bodes well for the child. :/

ETA: I should mention that I prefer Marietta to Mariette, which doesn't have quite the same verve, IMO. :)
