Re: Cleopatra?
1. It's a beautiful name. However...2. To me, it's completely unusable. As pretty as it is and as awesome a namesake Queen Cleopatra would be, I think it would be extremely tacky and prentious to call your child Cleopatra. It's just one of those "huge" names that I can't imagine on anyone else than on the Egyptian queen. I could tolerate it as a MN, but definitely not as a FN.3. Definitely simple, common names.

I agreeIt does sound awfully pretentious and I can't really imagine it on anyone besides the Egyptian Queen. "A world where Sting asked if the Russians loved their children too and we knew the answer was yes" - Excerpt from Looking for Alibrandi.

I don't think it would be tacky, however I do agree that it might be somewhat pretentious, and that it is definitely a 'huge' name.
Yes, I think I would only use it as a middle name, with a more simple first name.
Thanks for responding.

Agreed, as wellIt's very pretty, you've got to give it credit for that, but I'd never use it, even as a mn.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
