Jonathan

I was reading an earlier BA message that said
Jonathan "Jack".
This really caught my attention as we want to use Jack but were worried it was to short. Also I really like Jonathan and it goes great with last name..
What do you think of this?If you think you can't get away with using Jack as nn, what about using it as a middle name. eg Jonathan Jack Thomas Lastname 'Jack'. Or is that just too much?
Thanks.

Jack can definitely be a nickname for Jonathan. Jonathan Thomas, "Jack," is adorable. :)-- Sarah

I really LOVE the name Jonathon! It's one of my favourites!!i don't understand how someone came up with the nn Jack, because i don't think its anything like jonathon, but i think it would be an alright nn.DON'T put Jonathon Jack. EW! just have Jonathon Thomas "Jack". it sounds very lovely imo!

Jonathan nn Jack is nice. I would avoid using the combo Jonathan Jack though.

I agree. I'm the one that posted the Jonathan nn Jack, btw. He's one of a set of twins I cared for in our NICU recently. I never thought much about using Jack as a nn for Jonathan, but it seems perfectly acceptable, imo. I agree that a Jonathan Jack combo would be a bad idea, though. There's always Jackson, but I much prefer John nn Jack or just Jack (pardon the "Will & Grace" reference, lol) or even Jonathan nn Jack, even though I'm not a huge fan of Jonathan.

I've also briefly considered Jonathan "Jack." John and Jonathan are related so I don't see why the nick couldn't work for both.

Of course you can get away with using Jack as a nickname. That's what it's supposed to be. I'd go with Jonathan, nn Jack. Johnathan with Jack as a middle name would be rather redundant.
