Name from a dream
I had one of my cinematic dreams last night, and this one featured a murder suspect called Kelton. I don't know if it was his first or last name, or how it was spelled, but it was used as though it was his first name.

When I woke up, thought about a possible variant, Kelden, which I liked much better at first; but then my husband said it reminded him of Sheldon too much. And then I couldn't see anything but "Sheldon with a K".What do you think of Kelton (or Kelden)?

I like Kelton! It sounds nerdy and dashing. Kelden, on the other hand, looks forgettable and bland, but I actually like it as a Tibetan name - in that language it means "auspicious, fortunate, blessed".
I like Kelda better, but Kelden reminds me of that. It's ok.Kelton reminds me of Celts, Kellan, Elton, Skelton - I prefer it to Elton and Skelton and some popular LNFNs like Holden and Colton. I think Kel is a likable enough nickname.

Kelda is lovely.
I think it's regrettably plausible. I'd prefer Kelden or Keldon, Keldon probably, but I wouldn't consider using it for one moment. We have a step-nephew whose son is named Kellen: also a name I'd avoid.
"Regrettably plausible" is the perfect way to describe it. It sounds very young and trendy, positively mainstream.
I really don’t like it, it feels too made up.
