HelpRe: Thoughts on name Kirk for boys?

I think it has the potential to be quirky and cute. I think of Captain Kirk, of course, and also a character from Coronation Street - those are the main associations in my mind! It feels like a very serious name for a little kid, which is really adorable.
Because Kirk is not really retro cool yet, it comes across as a bit of an odd choice - which only makes it look more interesting. Like the name Eugene - it straddles the dorkiness line between avant-garde and unfortunate, you know? It can go either way. So can Kirk.
I think these forgotten suburban "next door neighbor" names are going to be coming back in style. We're already seeing a glimmer of it with people picking surprising baby names I've seen recently, like Leon, Curtis, Laurie, Gene and Elaine.
I like Kirk more than Dirk, I will say.
