What is your favorite spelling of kay-lee?
It is one of the few trendy names I've always liked. I want it to look as classic as it possibly can.
kay-lee. How would you spell it to make it look more classic? What is your favorite spelling in general? Maybe do a top 3 or top 5 or whatever you feel like.
I love the happy, sunny sound of this name. My favorite spelling used to be Kayley. Then I liked Kaylee for a while and then Caley and Kaley. After that I liked Kayleigh for a bit then Kaylie and Kailey and now I'm back to Kaylee.
I just think it's fun to think about.
Kaylee - this was the first spelling that charted for girls in the 1960s, if I remember correctly (beyond the top 1000). It feels somewhat more classic because it really looks like Kay + Lee and like someone maybe combined these names to honor someone and it has a clear meaning due to being a combination of two names.
Caley - I think this was the first one that charted in general, in the 1920s for boys. The pronunciation is not as clear, but it looks neat and tidy, but maybe also a bit boring?
Kayley - similar to Hayley so seems familiar.
Kailey - looks somewhat balanced, but also like it's missing something.
Kaley - I think Caley looks better.
Kayleigh - seems a bit much to me now.
Kaylie - seems to cutesy to me now.
Thoughts?
Oh and please don't reply just saying "I hate it" or something, it won't be helpful. I'd like to know about the spellings.
Thanks :)

Overall I would prefer something like Kayla to Kaylee. When it comes to Kaylee I honestly had no clue it was the original spelling. It looks very modern to me.
My fav would be Kaylie, Kaylee, or even Caye Lee.
The worst spellings Ive encountered would be Caleigh and Kale.
To me Kay Lee, Kay-Lee, Kaye-Lee, Cay Lee, Kaye-Leigh, Kay Leigh, etc. looks the most classic.

The girl I went to school with growing up spelled it Kailey. As a result everything else looks lopsided and awkward in comparison. The -Leigh endings make me feel like I'm having a tiny brain aneurysm 😆
But Kailey and Kaley seem the most practical to me. The weird letter swaps just look awkward and overly trendy in comparison

I'd say Kaylee is the most classic spelling. As you said, both Kay and Lee have enough history of being used as girl names. Also, the spelling is intuitive.
Same with Kayleigh but -leigh names have only recently become very popular, so that makes Kayleigh look a bit less classic.
Kaley, Kailey and Kayley look forced, IMO.
Caley looks like a LN-FN so kind of classic too but my first association is a boy/man. Does not have enough feminine quality to me.
I have a soft spot for Caileigh. It looks Irish. I know it's not but the spelling looks neat, and I much prefer it to the other creative variants.

I like Kaylee. It seems the most friendly and reminds me of the Firefly character.
ETA: Kailey isn't my favorite but I do think it's the most cohesive in the sense that it just looks like one name and not "Kay + suffix".

I think Kailey looks the most classic.
Kaylee.
I’m not a huge fan of having two Ys, like in Kayley, but I like Kay. Ka is a bit empty, and Kai is ambiguous. The name does have a young, cutesy vibe, and I feel like Lee is the most mature ending, compared to Lie and Leigh.
Starting the name with C just feels wrong.

My niece's name is spelled Kayleigh. A former student is named Kaylie. There's another Kaylee at the school I work at. I prefer Kaley but the more classic spelling in my opinion would be Kaylee.
Kaylee > Kayleigh > Kaley > Kailey > Kayley > Kaylie > Caley.
Kaylee is the standard spelling for me. I like how it looks: it's fresh and jovial. While Kayleigh is definitely one of the most modern spellings, it's also established because of the song, and therefore, common enough to be used. The directness of Kaley is what makes me like the spelling. I don't care much for Kailey and Kayley, but I tolerate them. Kaylie could often be confused with Kylie, and the C in Caley looks odd.

I don't think this name could ever look "classic," sorry. Maybe Kay Lee? Kaylee?
Kay Lee definitely looks the most classic!
I think I'd pick Kayleigh, or Kayley.
I'm not normally in the -leigh fan club, but Kayleigh looks kind of antiquated and romantic to me, there's something vaguely Southern about it (maybe it reminds me of Raleigh, NC?) so that gives it some classic vibes. Kayleigh feels like she could be in a Tennessee Williams play.
Kaylee is the original, but it's so thoroughly childlike and high-energy that I cannot get my mind to imagine a fully adult, legitimate and serious Kaylee, which strips it of any "classic" vibe, even though Kay and Lee are very preppy-classic.
Kayleigh feels more complete and like it could age somewhat gracefully on a variety of personalities.
Kayley seems more balanced and symmetrical compared to Kaylee, and bears a similarity to Hayley, which grounds it - so that's my second pick. It's trim and tidy, very tennis-bracelet country club Cape Cod chic.
Kaylie isn't bad, but I can see what you mean by cutesy. Maybe a bit too peppy. It's not bad though, very breezy.
Kailey and Kaley look ambiguous in terms of pronunciation; like they could be versions of Kylie or Kallie, so I would cross those off my list.

I don't much like the name, however it is spelled; I suppose Kayley looks pleasantly symmetrical.
