I really enjoy the sound of the name Candace, and always have! Candy might be a cute nickname, but I'm turned away by it, for some reason.

I agree a baby Candy would be so cute! I think a nn like Candy really depends on that persons personality though. Candace is nice, pretty but not frilly, very queenly. Personally I would consider using Cassandra nn Candy.

I don't love it. Probably because of pop songs? I can picture it though, and how it could seem cute.
It has a little bit of the same vibe as Brandy - evokes the word strongly - and Sandy. And Mandy, and even Cindy. Feels retro (circa 1980 or earlier), and unpretentious, possibly perceived as tacky by some.

Candace is a solid name and to me, maybe a bit stodgy or stuffy, like Cynthia - a hyperclassic.
I don't think it needs a nickname but I don't think there's a better one than Candy, if it suits a person.

I think Candace is actually a nice name. It's probably becoming retro-cool again soon. Candy is.... a lot, though. Like I would have hated being called Candy as a little kid. It's very infantalizing, and hard to pull off. Candy is cute on a 2 year old, sure, but it doesn't age well.

I've never met a Candace but I associate it with the 80's. I think Candy is a little too cheesy.

I like Candace. I know a few and they all have the nn Candy

I don't like it on its own which is the only way I've encountered it, but I don't have a problem calling people it. It doesn't seem much worse to use than Dolly or Brandy; I prefer it to Honey.

As a nickname, it seems pretty harmless. I like Candace.

I used to work with woman who had a daughter named Kandy with a K. I asked her about it one afternoon. She said she just liked it. No specific reason. An older woman in her late 70s at the time. I still think it sounds like a stripper's stage name like Bambi or Amber. Ironically, when I looked commom stripper names, Candy was #1 on the list 😂 Candace is nice though, if I can remove it from its association with Mrs. Cameron Burr.

Candace is very pretty, very grownup and sophisticated. Candy, however, feels cheap and dated, like an eighties stripper with bad tattoos and huge hair and not enough imagination to come up with a halfway original stage name.
Also, we had a three-legged dog named Candy when I was a kid.

I like Candace sans the nickname. Candy just feels too infantile and silly.

I can picture a male Candy tho. My cousin's nn is Cande but we call him Candy.

I prefer Candace to Candida, but I really can't stomach Candy.

Maybe, just candy sounds like a nickname, not a diminutive. Maybe just Cand though.
