If you're in an area where Catholicism is likely, it could have been Kolbe. There was a priest killed in Auschwitz with surname who has since been canonized and it seems to be a not unpopular choice in highly some religious circles.
Colby reminds me of cheese.
Kobe is inextricably linked to Kobe Bryant for me.
