Is Khan useable as a first name?
My cousin announced she is having her 3rd child, so this time her and her husband decided to draw names from a hat to allow someone in the family to name the baby. I got picked so I thought about it for a while and remember my mom telling me that her favorite singer was Chaka Khan, so I figured why not name the baby “khan”

Weird coincidence that they pulled names from a hat and yet the person that's into names got picked.... 🤔
"KHAAAAAAAAN!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
I always think of this lovely classic from Star Trek IIhttps://youtu.be/wRnSnfiUI54?si=09tgHCDygMjzngVO
No way.
IDK...
I guess I could see it if your family is from the culture that the last name is used in. If not, I would not recommend it.

I do not think it is at all wise or polite to take a revered title from a language and culture not your own and merrily give it to a child at random. It's quite silly enough to name a child Duke or Princess, but at least that is obvious silliness, not arrogant bad manners.
Higuma made some good points below.I also would like to add two more points. I thought of two things: (1) Khan sounds like the English phrase "con artist" (someone who deceives or tricks another person) and (2) Aga Khan is a title held by the Imam of the Nizari Isma'ili Shias.

It's not terrible, but it has a few strikes against it:1. It could be considered cultural appropriation (assuming they're not from that culture)2. The meaning- title names can come off as arrogant and pretentious3. It sounds dark and intimidating; it was the name of a villain in Star Trek
Don't really like it
Not a fan
