Most ‘boring’ names on your PNL
Do you have any names on your PNL (or just ones that you like if you don’t have a PNL) that you have found a lot of people consider boring or plain? If you’d like, why do you think you like the names so much when most probably wouldn’t think twice about them?
Here are mine:
Brianna
Brian
Chloe
Grace
Jake
Jessica
Lauren
Michelle
I love all of these names but I frequently find them listed as ‘boring’, though I personally think they are gorgeous.
:)

From an English-speaking American perspective, Anne, Clare, Diane, Helen, Jane, Jeanne, Joan, Judith, Lois, Marianne, May, Norma, Pamela, and Roger, probably.
My taste is rather unusual, and if there are "boring" names on my list they're honor names:Robert
Victoria
Christopher
Ben
Edda
Grace isn't boring 😭🤣 it's literally a princess name. What else do you want?? Lmao Let's see... probably Jane, June, Mary, Blair, Clara... perhaps other people would think these are boring, but I don't think they are. If I thought they were boring I wouldn't have included them. I do think Ann / Anne is boring, but it's also not in my lists.
I agree I don’t think Grace is boring! What I meant is that these are names that I like that I’ve heard others call that, sorry if that wasn’t clear. Grace has been consistently very popular in the UK, so I think people have maybe just gotten used to it.
I like June, Mary and Clara!
Probably James.
Probably Daniel and Isabella.
Leo
Eva
Elle
Emilia
LiliaThese are one of my favorite names, actually! I find them elegant & they look good on paper 📃By the way, Leo & Eva - my top picks.
❤️💜
I actually removed a lot of boring names recently, but here are some that stayed. Let me know if I missed any “boring” names on my PNL!Girls:
Amanda - It’s my dad’s favorite name, so that definitely influenced me. However, I find it pretty regardless.
Angela - It’s my middle name.
Julia - I’ve always loved this name. I like names that start with J or hard G, have a U, have soft consonants like L, and, if it’s a girl name, end with A.
Nicole - It’s so elegant!
Olivia - It’s popular for a reason: it’s gorgeous!
Rachel - It’s been one of my favorite names since Rachel Platten released Fight Song.
Sophia - See Olivia. In particular, I adore names that start with S and have the F/PH sound.Boys:
Aidan - I find this spelling so appealing, and the name is pleasant to say too. I really like boy names that end with -an. I also really like “Ai” together.
Alexander - I love long names and names with X. I also have a thing for boy names ending with R.
David - It’s just so handsome and classically Jewish.
Devin - I’ve debated removing this, but most people find it handsome, and I do too.
Jason - I think this name is so pleasant to say. I really like names that start with J or hard G, have S in them, and, if it’s a boy name, end with N.
Justin - See Jason + the ST sound makes it even more satisfying.
Peter - I seem to like this name in every language. It’s probably because it ends with R.
Joshua - My favorite boy name of all time! Soooo satisfying to say!
Tyler - I’ve always loved this name. I think I find it soft and like the long i sound. And again, it ends with R.
I love Tyler! I also like Julia, Aidan, Alexander and Joshua.
As I get older and more mature I’m starting to lean ever so slightly toward the “boring” and traditional names, especially for boys.Such as…
Philip (the nn Pip or Pippin sold me on it)
Laurence (it’s not as common as Lawrence but it’s still very familiar, especially among older people)
Francis (not in my top list but I really like it)My girl names are all pretty out of the ordinary except for Pamela; she’s one of the ultimate “boomer” names and pretty common but she’s soooo luxurious and sweet!
Also maybe Joan, she’s kind of plain and simple but I love her strong confident sound and adorable nn Joanie.
Joseph, Angela, Rachel, Ava, Arthur, Elliott, Helen, Julia, Margaret, Maria, Peter, Rose, Sophia, Sophie, Victoria, Alexander
They're pretty common or traditional, but I still quite like them.
I love Sophie, Victoria and Elliott, they’re some of my favourites. I also like Julia, Maria, Rose and Alexander.
Angela — I find this name so beautiful…unfortunately I have a complete evil witch as an aunt with this name
Catherine
Christina
Denise
Emily

Jane — Miss Plain Jane
Lauren*
MargaretLove, but too frumpy to use in actuality and I don't like any of the nicknames
Maria — In contrast, I love the million nicknames for this one, notably Mitzi and Masha
Mary
Michelle*
Natalie — Have loved since a child
Nicole
Paula
Rachel — Ditto Natalie
Sarah — It's just gorgeousAlexander — How could I not?
Carl
Darren
Edward — And Eddie
Eric — The prince from The Little Mermaid
Jason — Just so handsome?!
Jeffrey
John
Joshua
Norman
Paul
Robert
Thomas
William — And Will
I love Edward, it’s one of my favourite boys names! I’ve never heard anyone call it boring, so it breaks my heart a bit that people have.
I also like Catherine, Maria, Mary, Natalie, Alexander, Eric, John and Joshua.
I think it's just an everyday name that people hear a lot, which = boring for some!
