Watching the football (soccer) tonight and one of the players is called Cyriel. WDYT? I like it but not enough to use.Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from

Interesting! Many Dutch names are in regular use here in South Africa, but I've never seen a local Cyriel. Perhaps because in Afrikaans y, like ei, sounds like the English -ay as in 'stay'? (That y is typically ij in Dutch)That said, I don't enjoy Cyril at all.

It's masculine; it's the Dutch form of Cyril.

It's OK, not my thing but I don't dislike it.

I adore it a lot! It's perfect for a fantasy setting, the spelling is wonderful. As for real life usability, only in Dutch due to pronunciation issues, unfortunately.
