Really, many of these "modern" names are just nicknames for the "vintage" full name: Harry, Liam, Nell, Bella, Tess, Ben…

And I don't find many of these modern or modern

I think Eleanor is supposed to be the modern one.

I don't think so, everything else on the left is more "vintage" than the right I think

Benjamin is more modern than Ben. I think it’s just a coincidence a lot of the vintage ones happen to be on the left. There’s no way Nell was considered “modern”.
