Back in the previous millenium there was a man named Lorraine who played cricket at provincial level. His father had fought in the First World War aand named his son, who was known as Lorrie, after the scene of the fighting he'd known best.
Presumably Normandy would also be a geographical name, and not just a feminisation of Norman; it could also be a WWII reference. I find it very unattractive, and Norma would have much the same effect and be much more likeable.
