Thoughts on the name Normandy for a girl?
Thoughts on Normandy (nor - mun - dee) for a girl?

I can understand some of the appeal of this, I actually like the sound, it reminds me of "Manderley" and has the same satisfying structure. I am not a WW2 buff so that aspect does nothing for me. I guess Normandy could sort of be a mutation of Norma Mandy, but Norma Mandy is so much cuter. It also reminds me of that singer, Normani.
If it's going to be a name at all I think it should be a boy.
Back in the previous millenium there was a man named Lorraine who played cricket at provincial level. His father had fought in the First World War aand named his son, who was known as Lorrie, after the scene of the fighting he'd known best.
Presumably Normandy would also be a geographical name, and not just a feminisation of Norman; it could also be a WWII reference. I find it very unattractive, and Norma would have much the same effect and be much more likeable.
It looks like it ought to work well enough, but somehow it just doesn't. It just doesn't sound very attractive. I really don't like the names Norman and Norma and Nora, and Mandy too,.
This is why we need a better education system.
Awful! Norma’s much better.
Terrible, masculine and associated with tragedy

Wasn't Normandy a horrible battle?
