I like: Angus and Lucius
I can appreciate them all, but I love the names Vernon, Chester, and Angus!
I love Angus, and William though not Billy. Vernon is OK. The rest certainly weren't old-school where I live.
My favorite is Vernon. I also like Angus, Floyd, and Lyle.
Angus- I’m sorry this name is ugly to my ears :/Billy- so cute! Greatly superior to the other William nn (Will, Willy, Liam)Casper- in my top ten! Totally agree that it’s handsome and underrated! Chester- love it. It’s such a sweet and friendly name imo, with a slight bad boy vibe (due to actor Chester Morris)Clarence- this one has really warmed up to me lately. Clarence deserves more love :,)Cornelius- I love, love Cornelius! It’s handsome, intelligent, classic (sort of) and proud but friendly at the same time. Floyd- honestly…it’s pretty cute!Lucius- handsome! (It does bring to mind hissing snakes…)Lyle- kind of cute…Ollie- very sweet. I personally only like it as a nnVernon- I would have said it’s ugly…until I became aware of Vernon from Seventeen lolWilbur- I wouldn’t use it myself but I have to admit it’s very cute!
Angus: Doesn't seem to be much of a thing in the US, ever. It always puts me in mind of either a farm dog (I think Angus actually would make a good name for a working dog) or an old cranky Scottish man smoking a pipe and hacking his lungs up. Or a burger.
Billy: This is okay, a friendly, boy-next-door kind of name.
Casper: A Friendly Ghost name now becoming a trendy fan-fic sort of name.
Chester: I've known too many pets named Chester.
Clarence: I would never use it, but it's a pleasant, mild sort of name. I actually know a young Clarence. He's actually Joshua Clarence, Clarence after his grandfather. He was called Josh when he was little but once he got to school he started going by Clarence, probably because there were so many other Joshes.
Cornelius: I really hate the sound of this. LLike a gross, healthy cereal, or like callused, corned feet or the product to fix them.
Floyd: Too dorky to be charmingly dorky. I did once know someone with a parakeet named Floyd. Because, he said, everybody calls parakeets Pretty Boy and he wanted to be a little different. (Non-Americans: Pretty Boy Floyd was the name of a famous bank robber and fugitive in the 1930s.)
Lucius: Sinister, fanfic-y. Sick of Harry Potter et al. names.
Lyle: My SIL once ha a boyfriend named Lyle. He was very nice. But the name is kind of goofy sounding.
Ollie: Sounds kind of cartoonish, like a Dennis the Menace type. I like it better than Oliver but that's not saying very much.
Vernon: "Hey, Vern!" No thank you.
Wilbur: A pig.
Clarence, Cornelius & Luciusb are my favourite names on this list. I can tolerate Lyle & Wilbur. Ollie is adorable as a toddler but I find the sound very babyish.
I love the names Lucius and Lyle.
The names Casper, Clarence and Ollie are nice.
I dislike the names Cornelius and Vernon.
