Jean & Jeanne
What do you think of the English Jean (JEEN) and the French Jeanne (zhan)?

I like the name Jean, though I must admit I usually associate it with a middle name.Aesthetically, Jeanne is much more pleasant, though the French pronunciation is not my favorite.
I'd choose Jeanne, first because I'm french speaking. But also because it sounds so much more soft and feminine to my ears than Jean (JEEN). Sorry to say it! LOL
I prefer Jean
I like both, but prefer Jeanne a bit more because it seems more complete, although I pronounce the two as JEEN.
English-speaking people are notoriously bad at pronouncing French correctly. I include myself. People who use a French spelling because it looks pretty or is unusual do not impress me. I like Jean; family name on both sides, and if it's good enough for Robert Burns, it'll certainly do for me.
LOL, burnt!
It's amazing how the same name spelled one way or another can give off different vibes.Personally, I find Jeanne to be more sophisticated and elegant. Jean is more like a friendly, spunky, girl-next-door type in my mind.I would pronounce them both as "jeen" unless the person was French or I was informed otherwise. I like Jeanette a little more than both of them.
Both spellings are family names and was on the short list for middle names for any girls anyone had.
I think that the English Jean can be pretty on a girl, though I do prefer Jeanette. The French Jeanne is also very pretty, but I prefer Jeanne said like "JEEN" or Jeanette and Jean.

I like Jeanette, but not Jean.
I love Jeanne (said like Jean, because like Wordsmith I am also not French - any more). Jean is cute too but while Jeanne feels romantic in an endearingly plucky way, Jean feels more stingy, curt, and less warm. Jeanne was the name of one of my great great grandmothers. Everyone called her "Jenny".
I adore Jeanne (which I pronounce like Jean because I’m not French) and love Jean.
