Obviously, it isn't specified how either are pronounced so I'm going to go off the pronunciation I think it is. Charmaline - (Karma - line) and Alichea - (either Alli - Kay - uh or Alli - Key - uh). I personally don't think I'd use either. Charmaline is just too sweet. I like sweet names, but it's like candy. Too sweet and it starts to be cloying. So, I'd use Charmalie/Karmalie, but probably not Charmaline. Alichea is okay. I don't love the spelling. It looks like leech and lichen. I'd use Alakea. In my opinion Charmalie (pronounced Charm - ally, maybe? nn: Charlie or Charms?), Karmalie, and Alakea would be good fantasy story names.

That's very interesting! I'd assumed that the ch in Charmaline was the same as in Charline or Charmaine, a sh, and a usual ch in Alichea, which I thought was a rogue version of Alicia. But as you say, there's no way of knowing.
Weird! I asked my friend how she'd pronounce Charmaline and she said the same as you, so I guess I'm the odd one out, haha. I was thinking of like Charis/Charissa/Chris. Looking at both names again, I think you're probably right, but those were my first impressions.
