HelpAlma - bizarre connotations & associations
I noticed sometimes people dislike names bc they've met someone mean/impolite/... bearing that name. For me, the reason I dislike Alma is quite different. I've known this name for a while, but since my local student restaurant is called Alma, I can no longer enjoy it. I cannot help but think about overpriced, balans food.
My question is if you have experienced name preferences changing due to a bizarre association.

I've never disliked a name because of someone, but I also haven't met a lot of mean people. I dislike Alma because I think it's kind of ugly. Usually, I have positive associations that make me like a name more.
I was opposed to Lolita, Dick, and Fanny because of their sexual connotations. I now really like Lolita, but I am not brave enough to risk it in real life. I genuinely think Dick and Fanny sound unattractive as names, putting the associations aside.
I was opposed to Miley, Melvin, Gabrielle, Lora, Jeffrey and Sylas because of real-life people. I do genuinely like Miley, Lora, Sylas and Jeffrey, but won't be using any of them. I dislike the sound of Melvin and Gabrielle, but they are decent names in their own right.
I was opposed to Bella, Bryce, and Vera because of fictional characters that I hated. I really do like the name Bella, but find Bryce to be unattractive and Vera to be "faux-pretty". I prefer Verity.
