Xiulan
What middle name? wdyt?

Replies

I think it sounds nice but don't know the associations (like apparently it's dated in China). The comments are saying no middle name because it's Chinese, but not everyone with a Chinese name lives in China. And people mix languages in their names all the time. I'm using ones I'm more familiar with (so not Chinese) but again, anyone with a middle name is probably not Chinese anyway. My suggestions would probably be more for a Chinese-American kid or some other cultural mix. Xiulan Maia

Xiulan is lovely. I'm not familiar with Chinese middle name conventions.
No context; no comment.
It's an outdated name to the Chinese.
That's unfortunate. It's a wonderful name, really, so I wouldn't mind if Xiulan made an appearance on Western charts and if it was revived in China.
I agree. It's a beautiful name.
Oh, it's beautiful! Just think, a luxuriant garden speckled with wistful orchids... I can't say much for a middle name, however, as I am not familiar with the Chinese naming system.
I’m not sure the Chinese use middle names.
My point exactly. Some cultures use multiple names, others just one. I don't know how it works in China, so I can't suggest a middle name.
What a perfect way to describe this name!
