It doesn't seem modern to me. Nothing about it seems to fit the current fashions.
As a guy name it reminds me mostly of
Darren,
Darrell /
Daryl, and
Harris and
Morris. Not
Darius.
But it's not surnamey, and seems more like a gal name.
I would like it alright as a gal name.
Even though it doesn't seem modern, it does seem unexpected yet "easy," and that is nice.
Except for
Francis, I find -is names seem to suit women better in general. I like
Hollis more as a gal name, too.
