Well, there's Jo for Josephine and there could be Laurie for Laura! Historically, girls have often been given fem forms of male names: Frederica, Michaela, Roberta and Robyn, but not so many girl names have male forms. Antonia is a fem form of Antony, Francis and Frances only differ in spelling, and versions like Penelopos and Elizabethus just don't happen. Fem nns for boys ... presumably they would have been named something like George and become known as Gina? I really don't make sense of it, I'm afraid.
