Names with negative associations
Are there any names out there that you have negative PERSONAL associations with? Inspired by user, Francisinfp5w4.
Here are some of mine that instantly comes to mind:
Mary (Knew a psychiatrist named this who I absolutely did not care for. I won't go into detail-that would be much too long, but let's just say that I did not care for her approach and just didn't care for the way she presented herself or her personality. I thankfully don't see her anymore and absolutely would refuse to anyway if I needed to see someone of her profession).
Margaret (Knew one that was very unpleasant and difficult to talk to. Some people I knew that knew her as well felt the same exact way).
Natasha (One awful girl from summer camp when my sister and I were kids. She was much older and bullied both of us).
Rachel (I like the name, but never met one that was nice. One girl in particular who I knew online through another site was so rude and unpleasant. She has down tainted the name for me. She would bully and belittle me over the stupidest things and thought she was better than me. Thankfully, she hasn't been active on the site for quite some time now and that I never had to deal with her in person, but the negative impact that she had on me will unfortunately remain).
Samantha (Knew a girl back from HS named this and Oh. My. God, she was absolutely horrible!! She was so snobby and rude to nearly everyone and was the leader in her little group. They were all so superficial, but she took it to a whole other level. She was like the poster child for mean girl. Not a good person at all. She left after two years, maybe the family moved, I don't know what the story was, but I THANKFULLY never saw or heard from her again).
Dennis (Our family knew a guy named this who, let's just say we immediately cut off all ties with him after discovering something horrific about him. He's been in and out of jail over the years, thanks to reporting from local online news source, but he really should remain locked up).
Janice (A woman who adopted my two youngest cousins which wouldn't be bad had she not manipulated both of them, forced off connection with their real, actual family, and oh yeah, got into the fostering business just for the money. Too long and complicated of a story into how I know that, so I won't go into detail there. I haven't seen my cousins, the ones I grew up with, in years because of this vile woman and the hold she had over them. Had they been adopted by someone decent who allowed for visitations and didn't manipulate them and likely everyone around her, it would have been a very different story.
Others names with negative associations for me due to knowing multiple people with the name of just one unpleasant or annoying individual:
Madison, Mark, Ethan, Sharon, Patricia, Donald/Don Bonnie, Melvin, Sean-this spelling only & Bruce.

Not really. There are names I think are poor choices for modern babies, but I can reconcile my feelings for an individual versus the name. Except maybe Adolph … 🥸

The only one I can think of right now is Oswald, which I've just picked as my favourite O name for a male. And the one I knew was a brilliant classical scholar, able to compose original poems in Latin and ancient Greek and get the scansion correct every time. He got a scholarship to what turned out to be quite the wrong university, where he had no fun and no guidance, and got bored and became a stereotypical student - lots of pot and booze, and no work at all except for one piece that ended up in the university library. And he just spiralled downwards, kept drinking and smoking and developed schizophrenia, had strings of hopeless love affairs, and finally killed himself in a truly horrible way. And though I can remember him with love and laughter - he had been a delightful friend - I can't forget the rest of the story. And I'd never use his name. Ever.
Enemies, bullies, creeps, jerks, and rivals from my past, and the names they tainted for me:

Adolf, Donald, Isis, Bailey, Deborah, T'naye, Grace

Names I enjoy, with negative associations:
Harris - to me, he was just someone who dominated the conversation in entry Shakespeare classes; but the stories I've heard about this man with lots of money... basically, they all liken him to the villains in A Promising Young Woman (I've tried to forget about these stories, to no avail)
Yevgeniy - the Russian version of the above a-hole
Connor - raging douchebag in college, the year below me; and his last year, he ended up "dating" a sixteen-year-old from town (have to put "dating" in quotes there)
Silas - another college douchebag (a lot of these associations are college) who drove drunk and caused an accident that broke another student's collarbone; also, he most likely was the one who stole my friend's safe
Alma - rather rude stereotypical hipster I knew in college; and since she's the only Alma I've ever met...
Margot - I love this name, but it belongs to perhaps the single most ego-centric person I've ever met in my life, and if she heard I'd named my daughter Margot in any capacity she'd assume I named my daughter after her, so...
Robin - a feminine bearer is actually a negative association for both my parents (short version: she was caught cheating and told her husband that the affair partner was my dad, instead of the guy it really was)
