Years ago I read the book Gunnar's Daughter and I fell in love with the name Vigdis. (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6226.Gunnar_s_Daughter) The character isn't very symphatic, I just liked the name. I recently came across the author Vigdis Hjorth (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/736475.Vigdis_Hjorth), apparently the name is stil used. I knew it was still used in Iceland, but not other Scandinavian countries. I assumed it was a very old fashioned name that fell out of fashion.

Thoughts on the name? I'd use it for a dog/cat, but I find it annoying how many people use Scandinavian names for pets in the area.
