Re: Molly+
I love Molly and Miriam both. They are such strong names while also being adorable (in Molly's case) and beautiful. Miriam is so lyrical and has such beautiful colours in it, and I love all the nicknames. I have to say I'm so confused by grandmas that want to go by Mimi. I don't get the Mimi-grandma connection. Is it derived from "meemaw"? Also who uses Meemaw? These terms of familial endearment fascinate and bewilder me.Did you find out Miriam's gender and choose her name while still pregnant? I can't remember at all!

One of my aunt's grandkids call her Mimi. They live on the border of Virginia and Tennessee. A wife of one of my cousins called one of her grandmas Gogi and the other Meemaw. There's like a dozen ways of saying grandma in my family. A couple are really silly like Tootsie or Bunny and a few of them are babytalk; all of my grandfather's grandkids called him Dadad just because that's what the oldest called him as a baby. Mimi at least seems like Nana or Yaya or Mama/Mommy. One of my dad's grandmothers would not even answer to Grandma, though; she was always Grandmother or her name.

Yes, people use Meemaw. My sister-in-law is from the South, her family uses Papa & Mimi for grandparents. My parents adopted it, and having different names for each set of grandparents is useful.Yes, we did find out Miriam's gender and chose her name. I remember being surprised at my husband agreeing to Miriam, he'd was always iffy on it. We had always planned on using Margaret for our daughter, but so many people on BtN had used the name. It seemed weird to me to use it. Six months in the pregnancy I fell in love with Norah, though, and spent the rest of the pregnancy trying to talk Xander into using it. Didn't work. At that time the names on our list were Margaret, Miriam, Judith, and Katarina. Out of those Miriam suits her the best.
