Re: Melinda

I like it. It's sorta retro. Not as humdrum as Linda or Melanie (I do like those, though).
I also kinda like Belinda - one of the very few B names I like.
Just please don't pronounce Melinda like Anneza suggests - as "mee-linda." I say Mel-linda, e as in bell.
Melinda Inez is a good combo. Also with Maude, Fern, Phoebe.

Mirfak, I really didn't mean to suggest a pronunciation: just to make a mild pun. I pronounce it your way, and I've never heard any others.
The Melinda's I know was prounouced more like ma linda
Well yeah ... since the e is unstressed, it becomes just an "uh" in my accent so, it sounds like I'm saying muh-linda. A lot like Michelle sounds like muh-Shell, and Mackenzie sounds like muh-Kenzie.
But the attempted pronunciation, the one I think I'm aiming for, is mel(like bell)-linda.
If I were being silly and mixing up the syllables, I would say lin-MEL-da. Not lin-MUL-da or lin-MAL-da, and definitely not lin-MEEL-da.
