I love Erykah Badu and I love these names.

They all sound like products or objects in some way to me...Mars bars, Puma sneakers, and then idk, a satellite called Sirius VII? It's not worse than something like Brandy, Ferris, Tiara as a sibset, but it sticks out to me.

I think I heard about another celeb using Puma (8-16?) years ago for a boy. I kind of get Black Panther vibes from that. It does seem more namey than Cougar or Panther and less cutesy than Tiger. I wonder if people use Jaguar more or less often than Puma...

I like Mars ok as feminine when I connect it with names like Marsali. I think Marsali "Mars" would be preferable if it were my name, just because the irony seems so heavy otherwise - I'd feel like my name was meant to be a joke...unless my parents sincerely were devoted to the Roman war archetype, I guess.

I like Seven as a GP but more as a girls' name spelled Sevyn. It just seems endearingly kitschy in a superstitious "lucky charm" type way.

I like the sound of Sabti, and Merkaba is interesting. It bothers me a bit the boy didn't get a name like that. Also I notice Mars and Seven both have astronomy names, but Puma doesn't; was that a coincidence? I like Puma Sabti better than the others, so if that were my name, I wouldn't be disappointed by the difference, but I'd notice.

Well... they're consistent, and also what I'd expect Erykah Badu to name her kids: they go against Western conventions (conformity) while also employing a bit of folk magic.

She certainly has a style! I admire that.
