Cornelius

I love this name, Cornelia too. I was shocked one day when my seventeen year old niece said it was one of her favorite names.
It's a family name for me. My Uncle Conor is actually Cornelius.
I've never heard of Aodh before, but as a mn I think it's fine. Others you might like:
Cornelius Tadhg ("tie + g")
Cornelius Paul
Cornelius John
Cornelius Sean
Cornelius Jude
Cornelius James
Cornelius Rex
Cornelius Rhys
Cornelius Finn
Cornelius Hugh
Cornelius Guy
Cornelius Mark
Let us know if you like anyone's suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks for mentioning your uncle.
I'd never in a million years have come up with Conor as a nn for Cornelius...kind of like how my bio-relatives came up with Mac as a nn for Malcolm. :o) I love nns with precedent! :oD Sure beats my coming up with Neil as a nn for Cornelius, lol.

Neil as a nn for Cornelius makes perfect sense to me; more sense, frankly, than Conor. Because at my house, at least, name-derived nn's are generally based on the most-emphasized spoked syllable, as in Soph for Sophia. So Neil for Cornelius is perfect, and I also really like Mac for Malcolm, though for sentimental reasons Mal remains my fave nn for Malcolm.

Personally, I love it. It is a bit (just a teensy bit) long, but I like the nn Neil. I like the sound of Cornelius Aodh, but personally, I just call him Cornelius A. Surname (no mn, just initial). In that same vein, I also like Cornelius Jay (J.). :o) Seriously, I like the combos Cornelius John, Cornelius Asa, Cornelius Avery, Cornelius Xavier, Cornelius Tadhg (this & John are my fave mns with Cornelius).
Edited b/c I misspelled Tadhg (twice, lol).

it will always remind me of planet of the apes..lol...nonetheless its a fine name...but i too feel funny about "corn"..
I don't think it's too long at all. Cornelius to me just comes across as stuffy or arrogant. I also don't like that it starts off with the word "corn".
I really like Cornelius. I don't think it's too long although I have been told that it sounds supercilious and/or overbearing. I don't get impression. I think it's strong yet not in your face masculine. Because it is four syllables a short name would work well, although (as is my case) if the surname is only one-syllable long I can see a slightly longer name (even up to three sylables) being used.

I love Cornelius, though I like Cornelia for a girl just a little bit more. Four syllables is definitely not "too long"; my name (Elisabeth) is exactly the same length. I would probably use a fairly short mn, so I think that Aodh works well. My other suggestions would be:
Cornelius Abram
Cornelius Graham
Cornelius Tadhg
Cornelius Saul
Cornelius Fionn
Cornelius Levi

Cornelius Fionn
Cornelius Levi
