I like Meredith but not Hilary.
They both sound old. Maybe Meredith and Mariah? Meredith and Rose? Something more timeless than Hilary. I think Meredith is pretty personally, idk why.

I would assume these are the eldest children of baby boomers

They sound like two medieval boys who would have been opposite sides of a Welsh vs English conflict.
Now days both names would most likely be used for women/girls, but Meredith sounds like either a young child or great-grandmother. Hilary makes me think of Hillary Clinton and Hilaria (born Hillary) Baldwin and is in that awkward dated stage where it isn't retro enough to be charming.

No, they don't sound the same age. I think Meredith would be Hilary's mom or maybe daughter, but not twin sister. I like Meredith, it's charming, it could sound like a sweet old grandma and cute little girl.
I don't like Hilary, I think it's sterile, bland, and dated, not much personality.

They are actually perfectly matched as twin names, but not in a good way to me. They sound like a rich pair of Long Island preppie girls circa 1987 who go to a ritzy private school where they fun of the few kids there on scholarships and do the bare minimum to keep their grades up.

Haha, my favourite names right now.

They aren't what I would choose, but why not? Unless the illusory link between Merry and Hilarious bugs you?
