Leland is handsome, especially with the nn Lee. I'm in the U.S. (west coast) and have never heard it used for a girl / woman. :0)

I don’t know why people have heard it as a girl’s name. I’ve ever only heard it on a boy and I do like it on boy.

I used to live in a town called Leland. We had issues with alligators coming onto school property (and people feeding chicken to said alligators), and Muppets creator Jim Morrison's family home was down the street (though Disney had eviscerated the house's collection at one point).Anyway. I've actually encountered this name on women - like, multiple women - but never one a man.I think its ugly on any human.

That's quite the image and so foreign to me. A whole other world that sounds like it belongs in a movie.

Jim Henson. Morrison was in the Doors. Not surprised Disney were bastiches, they're well known as corporate brown shirts.

You're right, my bad. Jim Henson. Cool house, though, with some cool stuff to see. Just a fraction of what was once there, though.

I couldve sworn Leland was a girls name

I've never met a Leland and I think it sounds masculine so I presumed it was a boys name. But Andrew mentioned he only knows it as a girls name as well. Maybe it's geographical as I can't imagine as girl named Leland in the UK/EU.
