Either nickname spelling is fine, though Ally might be pronounced akin to the word ally.

I've met people called: Allie, Ally, Ali, and Aly.

Ali looks like a boys name and Ally looks like the word ally. Allie and Aly are more obvious. Allie is usually good but I like the look of the one-L versions, especially Aly.
