While I get what you mean with the mythological Io (don't think it would be an issue), and Io as the volcanic moon is a pretty cool association... what prevents me from using Io is the dreaded I.O.U. As in, I owe you (something).

Since the first thing that pops into my head is one of Jupiter’s moons, I don’t get the heifer connection. I kind of like it but it seems so incomplete.

It just isn't complete as a name unless it has at least one consonant sound in it to me. It's just a fragment.

Io is a guilty pleasure for me. I love it, but it's not very practical.
I once read a Russian short story where (if I recall after 40 years) a young woman is named Io ("EE-o"). She's in love with Rudolf / Rudolph and somehow starts calling herself (or them as a couple?) Rudophio / Rudolfio. I think it was written in the 1920s so it greatly preceeds the Bennifer / TomKat / Billary / Brangelina, etc., phenomenon. Anyway, it always stuck with me as a cool name.

I don't know what you mean by heifer comparisons.
One of my teachers had a baby girl last year and named her Io. I think it's an intriguing and appealing name, but I wouldn't use it myself because the spelling is insubstantial and there's very little nickname potential. And no consonants! Although I kinda like that, it's fun. Io's older sister is named Liana, which I prefer.
If we're gonna go for Greek mythology, might as well go the whole nine yards with the middle name.

the moon io is beautiful but has so many volcanoes that it's erupting nearly every day so in simple word; the beautiful are deadly
