Valentine is my middle name. So of course, I'm biaised. It was chosen as a middle name, because I was born on... Valentine's Day. ;) In French (my native language), it is solely a feminine name. It is pronunced ''Val-ahn-teen''. The masculine form in French is Valentin and pronunced ''Val-ahn-tawn''. Itwas quite popular in France in the early 2000's. Both the masculine and feminine form are very cute, especially for little February 14th babies.

I'm late to the party, but Valentine is one of few names that I equally enjoy on either gender. It's a bit more "realistic" as a middle name, but quite eye-catching as a first.

I adore it for a boy! My recently deceased father was named Valentino, and unfortunately, his oldest son (my half-brother), an awful person who's threatening to contest my dad's will, is named Valentine.

I'm sorry about the loss of your father Wordsmith. I hope this day finds you well and peaceful. Sending love and positive vibes ✨️ 💕

Sorry about your father's death, and more sorry about the possibility of a contested will. You are in my thoughts.

If I had powerful family reasons for using it, Valentine for either male or female would be strictly a middle name.As it is, since it would shorten to Val before we'd left the delivery room, I'd do my level darndest to avoid it completely. I have an in-law who is Valerie and known as Val, and I would not willingly commemorate her at all, ever.

Don't like either name

Kind of love Valentine, but it's very gp. obviously for a boy, Valentina for a girl, though it has far less appeal for me.

I think it would make a nice middle name. I think I prefer Valentina as a first name. Valentine feels more like a nice bridge to me.

I like it! Yes, it is pretty OTT and flowery, but that's the allure. I like that it can be shortened to the chipper "Val" as well. I think I prefer it as a middle name for anyone, but I do have a soft spot for it as a first name for a boy. It's sweet, like "Teddy". I also love Valentino, ugh, gorgeous. Valentina is almost too sickly sweet for me - I'd rather it just be Valentine.

I like the nickname Val but don't really like Valentine. Definitely for a girl. If I were to use it then probably as a middle name. I do kinda like Valentina though. Happy Valentine's Day!

I think it's great. Snazzy, elegant, with a huge, bursting personality. Much like Sylvester. Valentine and Sylvester would make great brothers - especially as Sylwester is the Polish word for New Year's Eve, so it has a similar holiday vibe.I prefer it on a boy.It would work better as a middle name with some names, and as a first name with others? That's the way I feel about most names, except those that are terribly overused in the middle (like Rose or Marie).

Happy Valentine’s Day! I enjoy Valentina and Valentino more than I do just Valentine. (Vote on my poll for Laurence Valentine ;)) but Valentine is more original and straightforward as a name. I like how it actually means “strength” and it’s a good name I’d say. I like it for a boy or girl about equally to be honest. I’m more inclined to use it on a girl however. Valentine Armando
Valentine Gabriel
Valentine Henry
Valentine Renée
Valentine Maelle
Valentine Mary

Happy Valentine's Day! I could possibly see myself using this for a boy's middle name.
