I'm thinking of using Clíona/Clíodhna for a real BtN baby!
In my accent it's CLEE-uh-na, not quite CLEE-na, but the "uh" is subtle. We'd use Clio, CLEE-oh as a nickname.
Which spelling do you prefer? I kind of prefer Clíodhna, but I think people will struggle with the pronunciation, even if we are using Clio most of the time. Cliona is genus of sponges and I can't really get that out of my mind. I also can't use the fada for either in some official documents here, but that's just the way it is.

I'd prefer just Clio, which is lovely.
I tried to like Clíodhna (this looks better to me) but I just can't really get myself to love it.
If it is pronounced CLEE-na anywhere near you I'd avoid it as it sounds so much like "cleaner".
(I am sorry, it also reminds me of "clitoris" and I can't even say why because just Clio doesn't).
I am rooting for just Clio which is a lovely Greek name paired with a lovely Irish middle name.
Or Fiona (I know it is Scottish but I love it too).

Honestly I can seriously get behind this name. I think it has class but also distinction. Clíona is my preferred spelling.

I love the way klee-o-na sounds, or klee-uh-nah, even better! I think it's great so long as you accept and embrace the spelling and pronunciation chaos that will accompany the name.
I think if you prefer Cliodhna you should use that one, but again, steel yourself.

I like it, but I’ve seen comments in the past that it sounds too similar to “cleaner” in non-rhotic accents.

I knew a Cleone at uni; pronounced kleeOHnee, which might not work for you, but at least you don't need a fada and you could still use Cleo as a nn.

We have two people named Leona in the extended family, so I'm trying to differentiate from that a bit. Plus my family is Irish and I know my father would love for me to use a traditional Irish name.

I prefer Cliona and personally if it was my name I would think sharing a name with a genus of sponges would be cool, it's obscure enough to be a fun double meaning as opposed to seeming like you named her a word.
