Marissa vs Melissa
Curious to know which you prefer if you had to pick. (:

I'd rather be a Marissa, I'd rather meet a Melissa.
If I had to name a baby ... if the "datedness" factor was equal between them, Melissa. Since it's not equal, probably Marissa.
In general I prefer Melissa. It is much prettier sounding and less synthetic and just a better name. But it matters that it has been overused, if I'm naming a baby. It's got more of an image stuck to it and I don't like that.
Also, I have hated a Marissa. I could get over that because I like the name - it just comes to mind when I look at the name by itself, unattached to anyone. I've never hated a Melissa.

Both are good but I like Melissa more.
I like them both. They're both really pretty, but I like Melissa more since it sounds more elegant.
I like them both ...
But if I was choosing my own name, I'd pick Melissa first. It just sounds a bit better to me. I also like Julissa and Alyssa, so it's probably the l I like. Marissa does seem a bit more up-to-date.

I like Marissa.
Marissa! I don't know why, there's something I really don't like about Melissa/Melinda/Melanie. I think maybe it's because they were very popular just one generation before me, they sound like mom names. Marissa feels more timeless
Marissa also makes me think of mariposa and I love butterflies :)
