Stephanie is definitely dated but a lovely name and I wouldn't mind being a Stephanie. Steph seems like the obvious nickname, and I used to hate Stevie, but I came across a fictional character who made me warm to it on a girl. It's cute in a tomboy way. Samuel is a great name and Sammy and Stevie is adorable, although I get the feeling they might want to change their nicknames to something less cutesy or use their full names when they're older. Or maybe not! I don't know.

Really like Stephanie, find it charming, light, fun. Stevie otoh sems stodgy and a bit desperate to be noticed.

Stephanie has one nice unisex name, and that’s Steph. I know a girl who goes by that. Stevie is fine for parents who are a little more edgy. It reminds me of Stevie Nicks, which is a good association in my book.

I love Stephanie and would have liked having it as my own name. Really hate Stevie, on a boy it's babyish and bratty, and on a girl it's as cliche-tomboy as Sam for Samantha or Alex for Alexandra. Sammy and Stevie is a nauseatingly cutesy pairing.

Sammy and Stevie is pretty cute, it definitely sounds like the set up for an 80's adventure movie. I'm surprised by Stephanie too, although it's funny for me to hear it being called "stuffy". Stephanie is a pretty, friendly sort of name, but it was so tremendously popular in the 80s and 90s that I'm shocked anyone born during those eras would ever think to use it, unless its for honouring purposes maybe? I need to keep reminding myself that the babies are having babies now, maybe these parents were born in 2002, maybe they have an Aunt Stephanie or something.

Stevie is really great though, I've grown to love it. None of the Stephanies I ever knew were called Stevie though. It was always just "Steph".
