Naming for a Richard?
Replies
I had a great aunt named Dick.. I can't remember her full name.
I think Lyric would be good, but I can't see myself naming my daughter this.
Richelle?

I am named after someone with the same name in a different language - same meaning, different sound. So I would pick a girl's name that means the same thing as Richard - brave, noble, or ruler.
Reina and Adeline are my favorites that come to mind
This is a traditional way Jews name after others, I don't know if it would be considered normal to other cultures

You can also name after a trait Richard had - so if he was kind give your daughter a name that means kind, if he was known for making everyone laugh name your child a name that means laughter or joy
I'd look at Richard's middle and last names. If that didn't work (because he had no mn and his ln was Schlotzki, for instance) I'd ask him for a couple of names he liked. If that didn't work because he was dead, I'd plant a tree in his memory or do that "name a star" thing.
Agree. Honouring is kind of a nice concept but ultimately you would want a nice name.
I do like Rochelle but it's such a stretch to say it was after a Richard.

How about Rysia (pronounced RI-sha)? It is the pet form of the feminine of the Polish form of Richard. I have a Polish-born friend called Rysia. It soon loses its strangeness, with familiarity, and could work, at least in middle name spot.

Im not sure. It would depend on what he’s actually interested in as far as girl names. But I know a Richard, and I would suggest he give her the middle name Ricarda or Richardine. Just for the fun of it but gives her a real nice first name.
