Full name for Ned
Hey guys. I'm thinking about my future son, Ned. Ned is such a nice name. Nice guys are named Ned. By nice guys, I mean that guy in the Nancy Drew books.
Ned comes from Mine Ed, which means it comes from Ed names. But I Just don't like Ed names very much. My favorite is Edwin, I guess.
Can you help me get to Ned some other way? My current preference is Nathaniel "Ned." I don't really like Nathaniel, but I like it better than the Ned names. I think it sort of works because I don't pronounce the "a" vowel strongly, it sounds like a schwa. Kind of like Nedthaniel. I wouldn't use that though.
Here are some names I consider
Benedict (I love this name but it seems so contrived)
Nebuchadnezzar - as came up on here a few weeks ago. Boy my grandfather would be pleased. Of course it is too silly.
Norbert???
Nettle.
Nehemiah??
??????????

please don't use Norbert or Nebuchadnezzar good god lmao
Benedict and Nehamiah are nice though. Give me a bit to think on more ideas.

I second the initials idea
Third
Noah Ezekiel David "Ned"
Noah Ezekiel David "Ned"
I fifth New_Chloe’s suggestion of NED initials! Great idea.
Marchamont Nedham (sometimes cited as Needham) was a famous English pamphleteer during the 17th century Civil War, so there's always Nedham
Well, I would vote for Nebuchadnezzar, but maybe Nicodemus or Edelmiro would be my 2nd choice.
Edric, Edmund, Edwin are ok.
I guess there's also Edwyle, Eldred, Nedelcho...

I agree with Fiammetta - getting Ned from Benedict is a lot less contrived than getting it from Nathaniel! And if you don’t even really like Nathaniel, then why bother with it?
I know you said you’re not a fan of Ed- names, but my favourite for Ned is Edmund (at least it has an n in it, unlike Edward, and Edwin - although have a soft spot for this name too).
Sorry, not much help.

Zinedine! That's probably also too silly.
Hmm, I feel like I need to think like a Mediaeval person here to get a special source for Ned.
Bennett, maybe? I don't say the "T" on the end very crisply so it kinda sounds like "Benned".
Garnet?
This is a tricky one
How about making up a triple-name combo that spells NED.

Benedict seems way less contrived than Nathaniel. You could go through the Lawrence of Arabia /Thomas Edward “Ned” Lawrence and use Edward or some other Ed- name as a middle name.
I like Edwin and Nathaniel.
What about Nevada, Winfred, Kennedy?
