Name my cats!
These two are coming home in two weeks. They're siblings and both 8 months old.The void kitty is quite playful and a little talkative. She's very affectionate and purrs a lot. I was thinking of naming her Zipporah but I feel like it sounds too seriousAnd this is her brother, I have no ideas for him! He's calm and affectionate, loves people and cuddles, a real daddy's boyI'm not partial on human names, I've named pets after food and random objects, but it would be nice to find matching names for these two. (As in, if I end up deciding on Zipporah, his name is probably not going to be Toast). I speak English and Portuguese but I'm fine with most Romance languages too. Any ideas? ^^

Tzipporah nn Tzipi doesn't feel terrible serious to me. The Z spelling is more common in English, but I like that the Tz version is more accurate to how it sounds. It doesn't seem particularly serious to me. Tzvi (Zvi if you like the Z spellings better) would be pretty matchy. Yonah/Jonah would keep with the language family and bird meaning. Colombo would also work with the bird meaning and Robin even more obviously so.

I was actually considering Zipporah and Jonah for the bird combo! But I thought it would be weird since I'm not Jewish

I might find it a little strange at first since I don't know non-Jews named Tzipporah, but I don't think it is bad or offensive. I can't speak for other Jewish people, but Jonah especially doesn't feel exclusively Jewish. I care more about pronunciation I think, which is more because I think the correct pronunciation sounds nicer.

It really does, it's one of my favorite names

I wouldn't worry about it being, lots of people use those names without the Jewish connection

A void is a reddit-hipster way to call a completely black cat.
Based on how their camouflage is sometimes so excellent, or their coat so dark against a background, that they appear like negative space, especially in photography. I have two black cats and it does often happen that I will look right at them and not notice them, if they are not moving.

We have two black cats, and inherited black bedroom carpet from the house’s previous occupants. This has the result that occasionally at night our carpet will open its eyes…

I don't think I've ever seen black carpet. Good thing you have black cats or every single hair would show.

They had some godawful gothic thing going on, with faux cast iron candelabras and curtain rods. It’s a smallish house built in the 1990s not a mansion 🙄 The cat hairs don’t show but every single other bit of dust and lint does. We can’t wait to be rid of it.

What about Zipporah “Zip” and Zachary “Zag”? Zip and Zag sounds matchy without actually matching, which I like.I have two elderly void kitties named Sophie and Snap, but they came with those names!
