I prefer the name Helen to both of them, but I like Helena. Lena is pretty, but I like Helena’s nickname potential and National usuage.

I also prefer Helena. Lena is a nickname.

Definitely Helena, although I like Lena as a nickname. How about Helena "Lena"? :)

Helena hands down. Lena feels nicknamey and incomplete.

I prefer Helena because it can be pronounced heh-lay-nuh, or heh-lee-nuh. Lena is just pronounced like lee-nuh, which is pretty, but I think 'lay' sounds better. Helena also feels more like a full name.

Oop, sorry for confusion, I’m pronouncing it leh-nuh.

Lena doesn't appeal to me; sounds as if its bearer can't stand up straight. Helena, then, though I much prefer and would use Helen.

Sorry, should have specified it’s pronounced leh-nuh.

I've heard it as LEE na in English and LEE UH na in Afrikaans. I suppose leh nuh would be the German version, but I've never heard it.

Definitely Lena. I enjoy the simplicity of Lena.

Helena, no contest. I always associate Helena with Saint Helena (mostly the territory). Also with a helm which is to protect ourselves. Lena looks incomplete and ambiguous to me, but it can be a diminutive of Helena or Magdalena.
