P. D. James
The English novelist was named Phyllis Dorothy James.• Thoughts on the combo? • We talked about Phyllis very recently, but what do you think of Dorothy?• If you had to use a nickname for Dorothy, what would you go with?• Do you prefer Phyllis or Phyllida?• Do you prefer Phyllida or Philippa?• Do you prefer Dorothy, Dorothea, or Theodora?• You knew I had to ask - what would you name a brother and sister to Phyllis Dorothy?I quite like Phyllis Dorothy. It coheres. I think I'd rather swap some elements about and go with Doris Philippa. Or, better yet, Doris, Philomena!Dorothy doesn't sound particularly attractive to me, but I'd be excited to meet one. It feels warm and nostalgic - all TV station play the Wizard of Oz on Christmas here.I've been reading lots of Renaissance plays recently, and they abound with Dorothy's. Many go by the simple Dol, which I've grown to like. I also like Dolly, à la Patron.Philippa > Phyllida > PhyllisTheodora > Dorothy > DorotheaPhyllis Dorothy, Neville Charles, and Estella Matildamasculine list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/191050/124079
