Lyra?
I love the name Lyra, but is it too associated with His Dark Materials? (I love the book series anyway!)

I really like the name. I never watched the series or read the books, but somehow I know it's associated with this series. I think someone else posed a good point that sometimes the character's arc can take an undesirable turn (has the book series been finished?), and/or people may assume you used the name due to the series. It's not quite at the same level as, say, Elsa/Frozen, though. With the name being a constellation, it is much more than the book series. I like both pronunciations: LIE-rah or "LEE-rah."
Oh, I actually quite enjoyed the TV series - the first season anyway, which is all I've seen!
I actually think of the constellation before HDM, but that's probably because I was an adult before I ever heard of the books/movie.

The first season is good, but it kinda goes down hill after that.
It's 100% His Dark Materials.
I hate the TV series, it's awful in my opinion, sorry! :(
I love the books. The first one particularly.
I love Lyra but I think it will get somewhat common (I hope not too common).

Oh I agree, the TV series is awful, I meant the book series!
I love it too. So pretty, simple and flowy. I never watched or read that Series so I don't have that associate. I think I have seen in a different TV series before though so I just associated with fictional Works in general. But I could totally see it on a real life person.
It’s pretty but it’s too associated with the Dark Materials series. I did not like the series at all.
I do love the books and the series, but I agree it's too associated with HDM. Like Hermione & HP. The answer probably depends whether you are from the UK or the USA?

I associated it more with the constellation. Either way, I think it would be fine! Considering you also love the series, that makes it even better. Lyra is a pretty nice name. It isn’t very common, either.
His Dark Materials is one of my first associations with the name, despite having never read it, but if you like the series then it shouldn’t be a hindrance that Lyra is associated with it. I will say that I personally would be hesitant to use a name inspired by a recent character, because there is always the chance that either the character will fall out of grace (e.g. Daenerys), or the creator will (e.g. Rowling).
I like Lyra pronounced as LIE-ra, but I think some people pronounce it as LEE-ra which just reminds me of leering.
